The Healing Connection

I recently read an article about your ability to elevate the world by focusing on your own happiness. In my twenty plus years of exploring the world of energy, I’ve realized that the most powerful way I can help others is to help myself. That’s where the system of Reiki comes in.

It is through practicing the Reiki techniques and using the tools of the system, that I am capable of connecting with animals and people in a compassionate, healing way. My clients (animal and human) can feel this and they melt into the healing connection. They seem to instinctively know the role that energy plays in the healing process.

The secret to healing is in the connection. We see this clearly in the latest research on attachment theory. Dr. Allen Schore stated that the first year of an infant’s life is setting them up for relationships and their ability to regulate emotions. This happens when the infant’s right hemisphere of the brain connects with its mother’s right hemisphere. To put it simply, the attachment theory states that an infant will attach to their caregiver to feel safe. When an infant is loved and cared for they develop a secure base and grow into a healthy, loving adult. However, when an infant experiences neglect or abuse, they may experience problems as an adult, including depression, anxiety, and relationship problems.

From the time we are infants, our health and happiness can be found in our connections. The same is true for animals.

When humans are under stress, we may experience stomach problems, depression, skin rashes, exhaustion or fatigue. Your pets have physical symptoms to stresses too and they sometimes mirror what is going on with their owners.

When this happens with animals, we may not notice what their initial presenting problem is, we only know that they’ve got something wrong. For example, they may be itching excessively. It could be a skin condition or allergies, but it might also be that you have a lot of stress in your life and your pet is displaying signs of stress too. This is where I come in.

I work with people and their pets as a team. I show them small lifestyle changes they can make that may radically transform their pet’s life. For example:

  • Diffusing essential oils in the pet’s home.
  • Leaving the radio playing while you’re gone.
  • Meditating with your pet daily.

None of this is rocket science, but many people don’t know how to relate to themselves, let alone their animals. I teach people to over ride their own struggles and help make sure your animal is not suffering too. Once a person embraces their animal’s connection to all life, which is far deeper and less violated than ours, they begin to discover the healing connection.
